Spektra (Adaptis EF) is a non-profit based in Tierp Municipality, just north of Uppsala.
We are a cooperative, working to uplift, strengthen and empower neurodivergent individuals by providing adaptive employment that allows us to do what we’re best at while minimizing friction.
Many of us who work here are autistic and/or have ADHD, which gives us a true understanding of the importance of an adapted and inclusive work environment. For us, it’s not just about work – it’s about community, opportunities, and being able to be who you are.

About the building
Stationsvägen 6 began its life as Bröderna Larssons Snickeri- & Skidfabrik, founded by Johan and Lars Erik Larsson in Örbyhus, and became one of Sweden’s leading ski producers. The factory produced skis, sleds, kick sleds, and furniture, manufacturing around 3,000 pairs of skis annually, including the ‘Vita Blixten’ model used in the 1936 Olympics. The company also supplied skis to the military. After ceasing operations in 1952, the factory was succeeded by various businesses, including Åshammars, AB Örbyhus Träförädling, Samhall, Eurofönster, TE:s Schakt, and today, it houses several companies, including Spektra and Pensionat Perrongen.
Historically, the Örbyhus community has developed around the railway since the opening of the Uppsala–Gävle Railway (UGJ) in 1874. The station in Örbyhus was established thanks to the count of Örbyhus estate, Baltzar von Platen, and a station house with a special waiting room for the count and his family was built that same year. Around the station area, various businesses were established, including a post office, a general store, and a bakery.
By the 1990s, the larger industrial operations had disappeared, and Örbyhus had transformed into a commuter town. Today, however, the area is starting to regain new life and is developing once again.
